POSITION DESCRIPTION
COMPANY: World's largest manufacturer of platinum group metals; fabricates platinum materials and carries out the marketing of precious metals, particularly the output of the Anglo Plat Group's platinum company (world's largest producer of platinum). The company specializes in metallurgical processing, engineering and custom alloy development; machines, draws, rolls and forms platinum, nitinol and specialty metals/alloys to custom specifications.
POSITION: Quality Manager – Medical Components
REPORTS TO: General Manager, Medical Products
SUMMARY: Plan, coordinate, and direct quality program designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain complete, hands-on management oversight of quality systems, programs, and audits (internal, external, and customer) for a nitinol business that manufactures tubing, sheet, and components for the medical device and some industrial markets.
- Provide precise and accurate testing of precision machined parts by developing and maintaining suitable analytical methods in the Quality Department.
- Coordinate efforts to resolve product acceptability problems between Quality, Production and Sales so that shipping delays can be minimized.
- Describe testing methods to production personnel and suggest reasons for test failure to facilitate manufacturing trouble-shooting.
- Ensure that all operating procedures manuals and other controlled work instructions are properly prepared, reviewed, approved, controlled, implemented and amended, as required.
- Ensure the use of approved raw materials in manufacturing and the conformance of finished products to established specifications.
- Analyze non-conformances to establish root causes and effect corrective action.
- Ensure that internal audits of the stated Quality Policy and the documented procedures of the Quality System are conducted.
- Ensure that corrective actions have been effectively implemented following external and internal audits.
- Deliver timely review and resolution of internal and external quality issues, including verification of effectiveness of the actions taken to ensure adequate resolution to issues.
- Conduct periodic reviews of the quality system with the site management team.
- Develop and implement ongoing quality training for all employees.
- Maintain and facilitate ongoing site certifications.
- Develop and monitor department budget.
· Issue and control Quality policies and procedures, raw material specifications and finished product specifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
- three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory/management experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of Quality Systems Management experience.
- Ability to instill and maintain a high degree of confidence that products manufactured meet customer and internal requirements.
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to motivate team members’ leading by example.
- Previous experience in the utilization of all metrology equipment with high-level precision and accuracy.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Proven record of success in the direction of delegated areas of authority in inspection and test procedures, customer relations, vendor relations, equipment evaluations and procurement.
- Ability to interact successfully with other Managers, Supervisors, Leads, Customers, and Suppliers to attain corporate goals.
- Expertise is the specification of incoming, in-process and final inspection and test requirements for the parts to be manufactured.
- Previous experience in the establishment and implementation of manufacturing process evaluations and statistical control procedures to assure consistent and satisfactory quality levels.
EDUCATION: B.S. or B.A. degree in technical field and/or business related field.
